Our Story

Joshua and I met in 2013. My coworkers convinced me to play on our company's kickball team. I worked with one of Josh's high school classmates, and he called Josh when we needed extra players for our team. Josh joined us for every kickball game, and I would go on to embarrass myself several times throughout the course of the kickball season. Nevertheless, Josh fell in love with the girl that got hit in the face with the giant kickball. I did score the first run for the team, so there's THAT first impression.

We've had a relationship full of travel and good laughs. We purchased our first home together in 2016, and we have spent the past year doing home improvement projects, cutting the grass, spraying wasps, and pulling those relentless weeds that nobody warned us about. We have truly enjoyed home ownership, though.

Joshua proposed on May 6, 2017 on our vacation in the Bahamas. He surprised me with a romantic setup on the beach under a lone palm tree with string lights and tea candles. The tea candles spelled out "Will You Marry Me?" Words were said, tears were shed, and hugs were had. Afterward, we were greeted by a photographer with a bottle of champagne, and we took our engagement photos in front of the sunset.

We cannot wait to celebrate the journey that got us here and our future together on April 6. See you there!

Registry

Honeyfund

We are very grateful to have everything we need for our home together. So in lieu of traditional housewares, we would appreciate contributions to our honeymoon fund or our home improvement fund for future projects.

We greatly appreciate all contributions and look forward to seeing everyone at the wedding!

Dripping Springs Info

Dripping Springs is located right outside of Austin. If you're not interested in going into Austin and would prefer more of a low key, relaxing weekend in the Texas hill country, Dripping Springs has plenty of wineries and other tourist attractions.

For pre-wedding fun, we HIGHLY recommend Treaty Oak Distillery. It is a block away from our wedding venue, and it is a really cool place to enjoy drinks and live music. There is also a nice outdoor play area for kids. This would be a good place to hang out before the wedding, to avoid Austin traffic.

Austin First-Timers

For first time Austin visitors, here are some activities we recommend if you will be staying the weekend:

South Congress:
Strip of restaurants and eclectic shops, perfect view of the Texas State Capitol

Austin Brewery Tour:
A three hour tour of some south Austin breweries.

Austin Beerworks:
Our favorite brewery (not included in the tour)

A Show at Esther's Follies:
Esther's Follies is a modern-day vaudeville theatre located on 6th Street in downtown Austin. Acts incorporate magic, juggling, singing, dancing, and sketches on current events (think SNL skits + Magic).

Shows are at 8pm and 10pm on Saturdays.

Good Drinks:
- Firehouse Lounge - You walk through a book shelf to enter this speakeasy.
- Roosevelt Room
- Péché - don't eat here, just drink

Good Food:
- Hopdoddy Burger Bar - Gourmet burgers/fries/shakes, good beer and cocktail selection
- Clark's Oyster Bar - Though it is a seafood restaurant, the burger is to die for.
- La Barbecue - We'd never tell you to stand in line for 3 hours at Franklin BBQ (the best BBQ in Austin), but the chef at La Barbecue is from Franklin, and the BBQ is pretty comparable.
- Home Slice Pizza - Awesome pizza, located on South Congress

Austin is overcrowded, so all the popular spots will have a wait. If you want to avoid the wait, we'd recommend an early/late lunch or dinner.
